Advent eCourses from The Upper Room

Request a Classroom for Your Church Today

Welcome. Thank you for exploring The Upper Room’s 2017 Advent eCourse, In Days to Come with author George Donigian. In order to gain full access to eCourse content, you’ll need to purchase a spot in an online classroom. You can do this individually and join Upper Room Open Classroom, or you can request a group of your own. This group option is available for those seeking open classrooms or private classrooms. If requesting a private classrooms of 5 or more better fits your needs let us know. Email us at [email protected] or click the Group Request Form link at the top of this page.

Until then, here are some essential details about our eCourse. Our eCourse is designed to guide you or your group through Advent to Epiphany. Since Advent begins on December 3 in 2017, we’ll need to begin earlier this year in order for our readings to correspond to Christmas and Epiphany. Beginning the eCourse material on November 26, 2017 will allow you to keep in step daily through Epiphany. However, feel free to follow the content in our eCourse in whatever way it works best for you. There is no pressure to complete all elements of the eCourse, nor is there a specific date where you must begin or end. eCourse content will be available to you well beyond Epiphany. You may opt to start on December 3 and double-up on readings. You may opt to skim through the first week’s content before December 3, and then fall into step on December 3. Truly, go through this at a pace that works for you.

Each week of our eCourse includes a recorded antiphon, a video introduction and reading, four meditations, and questions for personal reflection and group discussion. We’ve organized the eCourse material to work from Sunday through Saturday each week following this pattern:

  • Sunday, Reflect on the Antiphon
  • Monday, Read the Introduction
  • Tuesday-Friday, Daily Readings
  • Saturday, Personal Reflection and Group Discussion

You’ll receive a daily email from Upper Room eLearning from November 26 through Epiphany. The daily email will include a thought for that day and an invitation to enter the online classroom for additional content.

Our eCourse features audio recordings of Antiphons created just for this eCourse by our own Linda Furtado. Tim Savage, our videographer, worked with George to create video that would resonate with you. Lee Catoe, intern, loaded digital content with you in mind. Our author, George Donigian, offered his presentation talents to create weekly video introductions. Our Upper Room Books staff extended their editorial expertise to creating Advent content just for you. We’re eager for you to join us this Advent!

We’re glad to respond to your questions or to help you think through how this eCourse fits you or your group. Just email us, and we’ll reply! [email protected].

We offer seasonal eCourses for Lent and Advent, and we offer eCourses all year long. You’ll find information on current offerings at eLearning.UpperRoom.org.

In eager anticipation,

Sharon and the In Days to Come eCourse team (Linda, Tim, & Lee)
